One more..........

OK. One more project. I have been meaning to do this sign for awhile when I pinned it long ago. Thanks to the beatricebanks.blogspot.com for the inspiration!!!

So.....I whipped out some board my hubby had leftover from cutting my ETSY shop signs, put some paint on it from a $2.00 can of OOPS paint, and then painted J-O-Y with a red acrylic paint. I also put some poly on it to seal it.....and ta-dah!!

So nice to finally DO some projects I pinned! Thanks to the CSI project for the kick-in-the-pants!!

UPDATE (8-25-12): This little design actually for "picked" on the CSI project! I put my new cute button on the sidebar! I am so excited!!

The next thing on my list........a sign in black with orange B-O-O letters!! Head over to the CSI blog and take a look at all the great entries!!

Pinterest~inspired project

I FINALLY got around to doing another Pinterest project. THE CSI project (link below) was my inspiration to finally finish a few thing and start another.....which I hope to post later.

I loved these placemats and loved them in burlap but I found these at the DOLLAR TREE and loved the green edges. I grabbed my stamps and paint, and there you go......quick project that adds some color to our kitchen table.

Theirs on left. Mine on right.

That is it. :) I have been so OUT of it as far as posting. Hope when school starts I will be around again. :)

A few more random pics and projects I never posted........

Well, I have a few pics and projects I never posted.  So I wanted to get them on here. It is such a great way to keep up with my projects! I did this little ditty (isn't that a word) for my sister as a housewarming project......

Just a piece of a 2 x4 painted and added vinyl, a cute drawer pull and ribbon.....and there you have it! She loved it.

Another project.......started like this.

Wood bowl, old wooden candlestick, and a round wood disc from Hobby Lobby. :)
Add caption

Prime the whole thing.
Paint the whole thing yellow.

A coat of glaze.

YUMMY!

Add a gift card and there you have it.....a gift for your bible study leader that she will love....and she did!!

Lastly, once i opened my ETS shop a couple of months ago, I was commissioned to make some signs for a "vintage cowgirl party". The sweet last gave me the colors an told me to have at it....she wanted a sign for the dessert table, and her "treat" table...which was kind of like a general store, and then a large sign with arrows pointing the way.

So here is what I came up with........

The signs were a hit and I had a blast making them!!  I am linking these last ones to this party:

~Quick before and after~

I NEED to post more! Busy with my ETSY shop which is a HUGE blessing! I LOVE making signs for these sweet families! :)

Here is a quick before and after...when I saw this piece at Goodwill for $7.00 I knew it had potential!

Are you loving the orangey wood? :) And my messy countertop??

Here she is made-over! My idea was to put M & M's in it and write, "peanut", "plain", and "pretzel" on the little chalkboards! YUMMY! But I might put it in my ETSY shop....or give it away...or keep it. HA! Not sure! It would be so cute in a boy nursery too.....with cotton balls, and wipes and q-tips in it!
More fun to come!! Hugs!

I should be called knick-knack copycat.......

Hi there! Hope your Easter weekend was wonderful!  My father-in-law was in town and we had a great time! It was a beautiful weekend in Texas and it rained Sunday afternoon which, to me, was the end to a perfect weekend!

Last week, a friend of mine asked me to "copy" a design she saw on Pinterest. It was originally done by Sweet Rose Studio and you can visit her blog and see the original photo here. It was needed for a barn-type wedding in the hill country of Texas....so how perfect will this be???? :)

Isn't the original great? She did a BEAUTIFUL job! I have seen it all over Pinterest! Anywho.....I was up for the challenge! So...I asked my sweet hubby if he would get the wood "ready".....meaning would he cut it, brace it and get the nails out??? :) He is so great. :) Thanks to Papa, too, for lending a hand!

Here is the piece of fence we started with......
The wood is too "old" to be braced with 2 x 4's, which is how the fence is made, so Rhett cut it the size I needed it and the braced it with two 1 x4's. (Don't you love our saw horses??? Ha! That's how we do it in Texas!)

The wood is ready to paint.  Since the sign was going to be used outside I didn't treat it with anything. I drew out my heart free hand to see if it would work and I just kept changing it until I got it right!

Then I painted it with regular acrylic paint......just squeezed the paint straight out of the tube and onto the wood and then dry-brushed it on.

Now it was ready for the lettering. :) I printed the last name in a cursive font. I wanted it to be kind of "fancy". My plan was to then peel off the vinyl and use the negative space to fill it in but it didn't quite work like that. Time for Plan B. I placed the vinyl where I wanted it then traced over it with chalk. Chalk is your best friend when doing this type of project as it will come right off if you mess up. :)

Whew! It worked! I grabbed my antique white acrylic paint and filled the name in.

Then remember the stamps I used in this post, I thought those would be perfect for the date! I loved the numbers! And then I found a cute little foam heart to stamp in between the date.

You likey?????? I showed my friend who made the request and when I tagged her on Facebook the girl  she was making it for (the bride!), saw it and loved it! I was so glad! Thanks again to Pinterest and to Sweet Rose Studios for the inspiration!

UPDATE: Here is the sign below in her wedding!! So glad she loved it!

UPDATE: June 2012

I had such a wonderful reaction to this sign and another one I made I now sell them in my ETSY shop. Please see link in my sidebar if you are interested in purchasing one! :) I have also made the sign below and it (or something similar) is available also. :)
